PHYSICAL

Squirrelflight is a bright ginger she-cat. Her right front paw is white, and her eyes are the bright green of her mother, Sandstorm.

PERSONALITY

Squirrelflight is a bright and friendly character who is very popular with the toms. Her personality can be borderline obnoxious at times--she refuses to be left behind in anything, and has the childish and stubborn mentality that life revolves around her. At the same time, she is caring and shares a deep bond with her sister, Leafpool.

HISTORY

Squirrelflight is the daughter of "the greatest cat in the forest" Firestar, making her blood half kitty-pet. Little is known about her kittenhood, and was not explored in Firestar's Quest. In Midnight we do meet Squirrelpaw, and her sister, Leafpaw. When the forest is thrust into turmoil by the twoleg construction Squirrelpaw insists on following Brambleclaw, and older warrior, on a journey to fulfill a prophecy StarClan promises to help save the Clans. Though her sister is left behind, we learn of the psychic-like bond they share.

Though she is an apprentice on the journey, Squirrelpaw makes good friends with her companions: Crowpaw, Feathertail, Stormfur, Tawnypelt, and especially Brambleclaw. When they return to the Clans, she is reluctant to shed those close relationships when the four Clans must separate again.

After The Great Journey to the Lake, the new home of the Clancats, Squirrelflight receives her warrior name and begins a rocky romance with Brambleclaw. They are best friends and remain very close after the journey, until Squirrelflight gets jealous of the time Brambleclaw spends with his half-brother, Hawkfrost. Squirrelflight is suspicious of Hawkfrost's ambitious nature, even though she has no proof to stand on: except her pre-assumptions because of who Hawkfrost's father was; the treacherous Tigerstar. So begins the battle between Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw: If Hawkfrost is evil because of his father, does that mean Squirrelflight feels the same way about the other half-brother? This means a lot to Brambleclaw, who has worked hard to shed his father's shadow over the past moons of his life.

Caught in a stalemate, Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight continue their fight. Squirrelflight soon realizes that her feelings for Brambleclaw may be dissipating. She has grown close to another ThunderClan tom--the gentle Ashfur, and must choose between them. With Ashfur dropping hints that he desires more then just simple friendship from the ginger she-cat, Squirrelflight must reject him, and after the death of Hawkfrost, Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight become mates and have three kits in The Power Of Three.
