Runningnose is a nervous, quiet tom who is not particularly good at his job as a medicine cat resulting in rather low self-confidence.

Runningnose became medicine cat after Yellowfang was banished from ShadowClan. He made a pretty terrible medicine cat but maintained his position even after the time that Brokenstar was driven out of the Clan [ITW24].
GENERAL
Runningnose was made medicine cat by Brokenstar when Yellowfang was banished. He plays a quiet role in the remaining books, training Littlecloud, and eventually retiring to the elder's den when his apprentice was sufficiently trained. He is the only known medicine cat to retire before death. He stayed behind when the cats left on the Great Journey.
