HISTORY

Leafpool is one of two children of Sandstorm and Firestar. She appears to be the polar opposite of her sister, Squirrelpaw, even though the two share a tight bond. In Midnight Leafpaw is the medicine cat apprentice of ThunderClan, and her mentor is Cinderpelt. Through much of The New Prophecy is from the eyes of the tabby she-cat, she does not play a very important role in the first books. Instead, we concentrate on her sister and the journey that Squirrelpaw is making. Through their telepathic like connection, Leafpaw is able to promise her father that his other daughter is alive.

Leafpaw consistently shows her talents as a medicine cat apprentice, and received her warrior name after The Great Journey, when in Starlight she discovers the new substitute for the Moonstone, the Moonpool. Her new name is then "Leafpool", named after he important discovery. She only found the pool with the help of Spottedleaf, her father's first love, who has aided Leafpool is every endeavor she aims for. However, soon Spottedleaf must fade from the scene when Leafpool breaks the warrior code and falls for a WindClan tom--Crowfeather.

Crowfeather and Leafpool secretly meet together, and they are hopelessly in love. They make the decision to run away and abandon their Clans so they can be together, shortly before Leafpool is confronted by her mentor, Cinderpelt. Cinderpelts intentions begin as hoping to keep Leafpool is ThunderClan, because Cinderpelt is already aware that soon her life will end. Instead, they argue and Cinderpelt admits that she knows how Leafpool feels. That she too has feelings for another cat. Leafpool runs away.

When Crowfeather and Leafpool are on their way to finding a new home they run into Midnight, the talking badger from Midnight, book one of The New Prophecy. Midnight has come to warn them; ThunderClans is about to be attacked by a colony of badgers that could destroy them! Leafpool and Crowfeather are forced to turn back and return to warn ThunderClan. But they are too late, when Leafpool discovers that Cinderpelt has been slain by a badger. Still without her mentors forgiveness Leafpool realizes that she must stay in ThunderClan as their medicine cat, and can not give up her obligations in order to run away with Crowfeather again.

In The Power Of Three Leafpool is no longer seeing Crowfeather, who has taken a mate in WindClan. But all is not well. Leafpool seeks Crowfeather on his territory to give him a message of great importance, but never gets a chance. Meanwhile, the circumstances of her sister's three kits births lead many to believe that Leafpool may be a secret mother...
