PHYSICAL
As described in the books, Firestar is a handsome ginger tom, and his fur lights up like fire when in a sunbeam, hence his name. His eyes are medium green.

PERSONALITY
Firestar possesses strong leadership skills, although his kindness and pity for any creature suffering pain that is unjust may win him over sometimes. All through his life he was known for mischief, but he always had good intentions. As leader, he is faced with great decisions, but his perseverance helps him keep going even through the darkest of times.

HISTORY

INTO THE WILD
Listed as ThunderClan apprentice: Firepaw
Firepaw becomes a ThunderClan apprentice when Bluestar asks him to join her Clan, despite being a kittypet [ITW2]. He soon adapts to Clan life and makes good friends with apprentices Ravenpaw and Graypaw. He is apprenticed to Bluestar and begins to realize that sinister happenings, surrounding the death of ThunderClan deputy Redtail. Firepaw captures ThunderClan prisoner Yellowfang [ITW7], saves the life of his friend Ravenpaw, and liberates ShadowClan [ITW24]. For his efforts he is given the warrior name Fireheart.

FIRE AND ICE

In this book Fireheart and Graystripe are sent on a warrior mission to bring back WindClan, a Clan that was driven out by Brokenstar and ShadowClan before INTO THE WILD. He develops friendships with WindClan cats (particularly Onewhisker) while guiding them home. When he returns, Fireheart receives his first apprentice - Cinderpaw. Later on he discovers that his best friend Graystripe has been secretly seeing a RiverClan she-cat named Silverstream, which creates tension between their friendship as Fireheart is forced to lie for him and train his apprentice during his absences. Fireheart meet his sister Princess who lives in Twolegplace, and eventually she asks him to take her firstborn to live in ThunderClan. Fireheart accepts the gift and his nephew Cloudkit becomes part of the Clan.

FOREST OF SECRETS

Fireheart become even more determined to discover the truth about Tigerclaw. His investigations lead him to discover other secrets that have been long buried - not only was Tigerclaw lying about the night of Redtail's death, but Bluestar had an illegal affair with a RiverClan tom, and two of her kits now reside in RiverClan. Tragedy strikes ThunderClan when Fireheart's apprentice is struck down on the Thunderpath. Cinderpaw is crippled, and will never train again. He is granted another apprentice - his sister's son, Cloudpaw. Later on, Fireheart is right about Tigerclaw, but Bluestar will not believe him until she is cornered by Tigerclaw is her den as he attempts to murder her in the chaos of battle. Fireheart saves her life, triumphant at last in his struggle against Tigerclaw. In the last chapter of the book Fireheart's friend Graytripe decides to join RiverClan, were his deceased mate's (Silverstream) kit will live.

RISING STORM

Fireheart is promoted to deputy after Tigerclaw is banished. He is now haunted by suspicions of the exiled Tigerclaw waiting to kill him in every shadow. Fireheart must take on more and more responsibility for the Clan while Bluestar laments over the loss of her former deputy. He struggles to train the disrespectful apprentice Cloudpaw, and develops a close friendship with Sandstorm. As the weather becomes even drier, a fire breaks out in ThunderClan territory and Fireheart and ThunderClan must take refuge in RiverClan territory. Even more dramatic, Fireheart is shocked when his former enemy Tigerclaw returns to haunt the forest as the new leader of ShadowClan.

A DANGEROUS PATH

Fireheart hopes that Tigerstar will be finally satisfied with his new power, unaware that his enemy seek revenge. He has troubled, confusing dreams and slowly ThunderClan discovers that they are the hunted in their own territory - an invisible enemy at Snakerocks. Bluestar tries to blame the missing prey on WindClan, and Fireheart must break the warrior code in order to stop the bloodshed. Bluestar is enraged, and only allows him to stay deputy because, "he will be a traitor to lead a Clan of traitors".

Fireheart must soon face the threat of the dog pack that haunts Snakerocks, and he attempts to sacrifice himself to destroy the pack. Bluestar saves him but dies herself, regaining her sanity and telling him that he will be the light of ThunderClan. As her deputy, Fireheart becomes leader - Firestar.

THE DARKEST HOUR

In this book Firestar receives his new name and his nine lives and begins to lead ThunderClan. He is haunted again by disturbing dreams and prophecies of a hill of bones. He apprentices Tigerstar's son, Bramblepaw, to himself and is also forced to banish Darkstripe for treachery. At a gathering when Tigerstar announces his plan to unify the Clans, ThunderClan and WindClan oppose the decision, and the two Clans form LionClan to oppose the united force of TigerClan (RiverClan and ShadowClan).

In front of both LionClan and TigerClan, Tigerstar is murdered by BloodClan cat Scourge. Firestar is shocked, expecting to eventually face Tigerstar himself. Scourge warns Firestar that he must fight BloodClan or surrender the four Clan's territories. LionClan (with the addition of RiverClan and ShadowClan) and BloodClan will face off at dawn. Firestar leads the Clans to victory, loosing a life in the process to Scourge.

MIDNIGHT

In THE NEW PROPHECY the point of view switches off Firestar, although he has two daughters named Squirrelflight and Leafpool. As the territories are being destroyed by twolegs, Firestar and his Clan face the threat of starvation and eviction from their home. In the prologue, Firestar and his gathering patrol witness the destruction of fourtrees. Later on Cinderpelt receives a prophecy of "Fire and Tiger" and Firestar attempts to keep his daughter (Squirrelflight) and Brambleclaw away from eachother. He is distraught when they both disappear.

DAWN

During this book Firestar must make the decision to leave the forest behind, even though his best friend Graystripe has been kidnapped by twolegs.

STARLIGHT

Firestar (along with Brambleclaw and Onewhisker) is the sole witness to Tallstar's last minute change of deputy.

TWILIGHT

SUNSET

Firestar invites Stormfur and Brook to stay in the Clan. He must also face the fact that he needs to appoint a deputy, despite still being devastated over the loss of Graystripe. He appoints Brambleclaw to the position. At the end of the book, Firestar is lead out of camp and into a trap laid by Hawkfrost. Firestar is caught in a foxtrap and struggling for his lives when Brambleclaw is faced with the decision to let his mentor die or to save him. Brambleclaw chooses to save Firestar, and the leader watches the murder of Hawkfrost by Brambleclaw's paws before being freed from the trap. Firestar thanks Brambleclaw for saving him, and decides to keep him as deputy.

THE SIGHT

In this book Firestar has grandchildren - Jaykit, Hollykit and Lionkit - who he has received a prophecy about. In the prologue, he worries about what the foretelling of the three kits will mean for the future of his Clan. His old friend Graystripe also returns, but Firestar decides to keep Brambleclaw as his deputy. He allows Graystripe's new kittypet mate to remain in ThunderClan.

DARK RIVER

Firestar states in this book that he is tired of trying to help the other Clans only to encounter jealousy and weakness. He formally accepts Millie as a warrior.
