PHYSICAL
Darkstripe is a sleek dark tabby. His fur is almost black, with barely visible darker black stripes. His eyes are described as bright yellow in one book, but have also been described as amber.

PERSONALITY
Darkstripe is a cowardly and stubborn individual, with a defined evil streak. His decisions unwind him in the end, when he is swallowed by darkness and ends up in The Place Of No Stars instead of StarClan.

HISTORY

INTO THE WILD
Listed as ThunderClan warrior: Darkstripe
Darkstripe does not play a major role in this book. He is often described on patrols, and is Tigerclaw's right-hand man. He is prejudiced against Firepaw's kittypet roots, and is the loudest supporter when it comes to killing other cats (particularly Yellowfang, whom he calls for the death of several times, and Ravenpaw [ITW18]).

GENERAL
Darkstripe is by no means that arch-villain that Tigerstar was in Warriors. He can't even contest as the sidekick, though he may be the closest that exists. In the beginning of Into The Wild Darkstripe remains the cold, and obviously not friendly cat who deserves the nickname of "Dirtstripe" that Firepaw adorns him with.

We learn of his greater character though, when Darkstripe refuses when offered the choice to follow Tigerclaw after the unveiling of his treachery. In the cowardly fashion of the character Darkstripe refuses, with some hesitation. But when Bluestar dies and Firestar becomes leader, Darkstripe makes a change. Beginning with leading Bramblekit and Tawnykit to find their true father, and ending with the attempted murder of Sorrelkit. After that, Firestar has no choice but to cast him out of ThunderClan, where he runs to his puppetmaster, the treacherous Tigerstar.

We see more of Darkstripe later. First, while Fireheart, Ravenpaw and Graystripe watch from within nearby cover, he proves his worthlessness when he is ordered by Tigerstar to kill the half-clan prisoner, Stonefur. Stonefur has been starved and weakened beyond recovery and is surrounded by the enemy, but Darkstripe is still not able to kill him. Later on, after Tigerstar is killed, Graystripe, Firestar and Darkstripe meet in battle. Darkstripe is killed, and has one of the best death scenes in all the books. He tells Firestar, "There is nothing left to fight for" as he is consumed by darkness.

The last time we see Darkstripe, he is dead. He meets Tigerstar in The Place Of No Stars, and admits to the dark leader that he expected to be hunting along side their Clanmates in StarClan. Instead, he now walks alone.
