THE BATTLE OF SUNNINGROCKS

Significance: First battle on ThunderClan soil that they have been defeated since Bluestar became leader. Two deputies killed, both under mysterious circumstances.

Sunningrocks is a long disputed territory between ThunderClan and RiverClan. This point, our first chapter into the Warriors series, marked a victory for RiverClan and staged the rest of the story.

BROKENSTAR'S DEFEAT

Strategies: The decoy of prisoner Yellowfang creates the element of surprise (ThunderClan).
Significance: ThunderClan's stolen kits (Cinderkit, Brackenkit) reclaimed. Brokenstar exiled, power restored to Nightpelt, a ShadowClan elder.

After ShadowClan steals two ThunderClan kits, the Clan is hungry for revenge. But the patrol runs into Firepaw, Graypaw, and Yellowfang first. Yellowfang has a plan to infiltrate ShadowClan, but it will mean working with a small group of ShadowClan elders who have been banished to the outskirts of camp. The battle is quickly run when Brokenstar's elite guard crumbles from the pressure of ThunderClan's superior force. Brokenstar escapes with his allies.

SKIRMISH AT THE GORGE

Significance: Accidental death of RiverClan warrior. Gave the impression of an alliance between WindClan and ThunderClan.

Weary from their journey, Fireheart and Graystripe insist to their escorts to take a shortcut through RiverClan territory. The decision ends in tragedy when Whitetclaw tumbles into the gorge, Sandpaw and Graystripe nearly following. Leopardfur and Tigerclaw part, but the RiverClan deputy remarks that this is not the end.

BROKENSTARS REVENGE

Strategies: Brokenstar attacks when the camp is virtually undefended by leading the other warriors out with a decoy.
Significance: Fireheart single handedly defends the camp. Brokenstar looses a life and is blinded and captured.

When all the warriors except Fireheart have to leave camp, he announces their vulnerability to the clan, and on cue, Brokenstar arrives with his rebels! Things look grim, but with Fireheart's leadership ThunderClan manages to defeat them.

THE WINDCLAN BATTLE

Strategies: Two patrols (ThunderClan).
Significance: Alliance between RiverClan and ShadowClan. Fireheart allows Silverstream to escape him unscathed.

Onewhisker comes to ThunderClan begging for help, before ShadowClan and RiverClan can drive out WindClan again. Bluestar makes the decision to help WindClan, fearing if they don't, ThunderClan will be alone to face ShadowClan and RiverClan.

THE SIGHT'S SHADOWCLAN AMBUSH

Strategies: ShadowClan hides their battle party waiting to ambush the smaller ThunderClan patrol (ShadowClan). ThunderClan pushes ShadowClan into the thick brambles, where they are at a territorial disadvantage (ThunderClan).
Significance: None

ShadowClan was looking for more territory. They set the markers back without ThunderClan's permission, and nearly won the territory when Oakfur drew out a ThunderClan patrol. After vicious taunting the ThunderClanners threatened a fight -- only to have all of ShadowClan appear behind Oakfur's patrol. If Lionpaw hadn't escaped and warned the camp, the victory would have been ShadowClans.
