The Lost Warrior by Oddleaf
"Wow, It is Itty-bitty." I say to my mother As I rip the cardboard covering off my Delivery.
I Look onto the cover of the book, and Find Myself staring into the fierce yellow eyes of a dark gray tabby. Graystripe.
I run into my room and flop on the bed, holding the sacred paperback book in one hand, and turning off the radio in the other. Eyes bright and mouth watering, I Turn open the page...
Only yesterday I Received my copy of TLW. I can happily say I've read it at least seven times since. Why? Two reasons.
1. It's an awesome book
2. It's incredibly short.
At 96 pages long, TLW Tells the story of Graystripe, Leaving off where we last left him, Getting captured by the twolegs, and following him from there. Besides the book, it offers a few tasty niblets that leaves the reader wanting more. Things such as a note from Erin Hunter talking about how much she LOVES the book, an excerpt from 'The Sight' and 'Into the Wild', and finally, a taste of the next book. More about that later. For now, I have my own opinions to share.
1. All the writers must have gotten angry mail, telling how some kittypets are anything but soft. Why? Because we meet my extremely favorite kitty, Duke. I was glad to see that the writers still believed that kitty-pets could still kick-butt.
2. I Was Pleased to see that Graystripe had found a good home. A Big Dad, A Mom and two kids. I Found it interesting that Graystripe had to fight himself to not like kittypet life. Proving that even the warrior-est warrior could find kitty-pet life tantalizing. I'm happy to see him struggle in this pampered happy life until he finally makes the decision to leave. (And even then it's not easy for him.)
3. I was very fond of some of the art. Graystripe was okay, but a little... Pointy. His big bangs thing and his weirdo eyebrows were a little much for me. I did Like Millie though. Her slight tabby-ness and slick lineart were pleasing. We see a little of Firestar in the book, and he just looked very plain. He had a little head jag going on, but I guessed I imagined him more, Well, More.
I Liked Silverstream. She was very Long ans slick, though her One Tabby stripe thing was odd (And the eyebrows).
Feathertail was yucky. The curl thing combined with they eyebrows made for pure ickyness.
We Also see a few other cats. A Bit of Squirrelfilght, A Bit of Brightheart A Big dissapointment) And A Very Fluffy Cloudtail. All in All, The art gets a 6.5 from me.
4. The plot was simple and strait forward. Gray captured, meets frind(Mate) and then leaves. It diddnt realy have any sharp twists that I've come to hope for(Well, Millie leaving.../saving Gray was sorta Kinda...). But I guess that it would be harder to pull off on pictures. The Fight scenes were cool, and I Loved the Sound Effects.
(CRASH-SPANG!)
All togeather, I enjoyed the book very much, but felt in ended much too soon. I Hope for more in the next book, "Warriors Refuge."
