Warriors: The Power of Three: The Sight by Blackheart

Well everyone, I know you’ve all been waiting for it, ;) so here is the review of the REAL THING! A book written by one of the writers themselves, shall we see how Erin Hunter fairs?

Plot: 10/10
The Sight had a wonderful storyline, split into different parts with each character, plus plenty of little side plots to keep your interest. I also thought that this book went back to what truly made Warriors brilliant in the first place. Kate brought back the more light-hearted humor that was so lacking in The New Prophecy, and she also made the former main characters feel like they were truly still there, the same cats you once fell in love with, without having them being too big a part of it. I’m avoiding spoilers, so I’m not going to mention specifics about the plot, but it was absolutely brilliant!

Readability: 10/10
Come on, what do you expect? Professionals are going to make a story pretty darn easy to read! It flowed, and the plot was very catchy, an easy read that I didn’t set down until I slept and went to school!

Mechanics: 9/10
Not even the great Vicky could pull off a perfect score here! Like I’ve said before, perfect means perfect, especially in this area with me. There weren’t tons of errors, but they were there, so no chance at a 100% A+ guys!

Originality: 9/10
Yes, the story was great, and the characters (new ones) were very unique, but there were a couple of things that were fairly predictable, which is fine, but it was a very original piece, and there were no major parts of the plot that were super predictable, and the way they worked the powers in was wonderful!

Characters: 9/10
Yes, I know, I’ve given characters a 10/10 for someone else, but these are professionals, and there was a mistake in continuity with how a character looked, so no perfect score. Millie is said to be a different color in The Sight, than how she is described in The Lost Warrior. Since it is a character mistake, I’ll take off a point, other than that all the other characters were wonderfully done, and Firestar was the best I’ve seen him in ages!

Description: 10/10
Not much to say here, just read the first paragraph of the book, enough said.

Continuity: 8/10
If you mess up on the pelt of a character, you’re going to be knocked some points, that’s just unacceptable from people who are complete professionals and paid not to do such things. These are the types of mistakes that should never be missed. Though it was only one mistake, it cost The Sight, three points in total. There were no other mistakes that I found in this area though!

Overall: A 93%
I’m going to be frank here, if I graded this on the same level as any fanfic it would have gotten either a 100%, or a 98% (mechanics of course!), but since they’re professionals they have a different standard to live up to, and so get a tougher system of grading. The Sight, is the best Warriors book I’ve read in some time, and not every book in the series would receive a grade so high, but this one definitely gets high marks from Blackie!
