Foreshadowing The Darkest Hour by Jaybird
As we all know, The Darkest Hour was the last book of the original series. It had a lot of action, drama, and quite a lot of tension. But there are many things that seem to signify the ending of the book. For one, we all know that with good guys vs. bad guys, usually the good guys win. In the Allegiances of The Darkest Hour, right after RiverClan's cats, it says BloodClan, and then under that, Leader: Scourge, Deputy: Bone. Now that's a big hint that they're going to appear in the book. There is also a lot more foreshadowing in the book, and in some cases, Erin Hunter might not have even meant to. This would be an example:
"Firestar expected this life to be gentle and loving like Silverstream's, and he wasn't ready for the bolt of ferocity that transfixed him. He felt as though all the fury of their ancient ancestors TigerClan and LionClan were pulsing through him, challenging any cat to harm the weaker, faceless shadows that crouched by his paws."

Now this has another clue in it. Tigerstar formed RiverClan and ShadowClan together, creating TigerClan. Firestar formed WindClan and ThunderClan at first to create LionClan, and then eventually all the clans to create it. Note, it said TigerClan and LionClan in the quote, and eventually the clans were at the present. Though it is said many times throughout the series about TigerClan and LionClan, it is more effective in The Darkest Hour for the conclusion of it. But there are more quotes that have been intentionally left to foreshadow the end of the Original Series, such as this:
"Something terrible is coming, Firestar. Four will become two. Lion and Tiger will meet in battle, and blood will rule the forest."

That quote was intentionally left by Erin Hunter, and is one of the most obvious foreshadowing quotes. As figured out later in the book by Firestar, Lion meant LionClan, Tiger meant TigerClan, and Blood meant BloodClan. These all were foreshadowed many times in the book, and it all came true. TigerClan and LionClan faced off, though no battle took place. BloodClan tried to rule the forest, but LionClan stopped them from keeping their reign. Foreshadowing took place many times in the book, all pointing to the conclusion of The Darkest Hour. There is one more foreshadowing point in the story, and this is it.
"'Firestar,' Whitestorm continued after a moment, 'I just wanted to say that Bluestar could not have led us better in these terrible days. I've been proud to serve as your deputy.' Firestar stared at him.
'Whitestorm, you're talking as if...' He couldn't put what he was afraid of into words. The older warrior's respect meant more to him than he could say, and he couldn't imagine how he would cope if Whitestorm did not come back after the battle."

That foreshadowed that Whitestorm would not come back after the battle with BloodClan, and it later on came true. Whitestorm was struck down by Bone, and Graystripe took his place as deputy. Many other foreshadowing took place in the book, all telling what would happen later on in the book. It was from the most obvious such as the Allegiances and the prophecy, to the most complicated such as how Firestar felt earning his nine lives. The Darkest Hour concluded beautifully, the foreshadowing coming true, and led on to a great successful series, The New Prophecy.
