Featured Warrior: Brackenfur

Whether with a burning passion or just a mild interest, most readers of Warriors like Brackenfur, the responsible tabby who helps whenever and wherever he can without trying excessively to be in control. A loyal mate to Sorreltail and now his four kits, there’s very little not to like about him.

Where He’s Been
Our golden-colored tom started only as the brother of Cinderpaw and Graystripe’s apprentice: A serious, eager-to-learn apprentice who grew into a serious, eager-to-please warrior. His unquestioning loyalty to his Clan, his leader, and the warrior code placed him pretty high on Firestar’s list, and pretty early at that.

Where He’s At
Mate to Sorreltail and father to Cinderkit, Honeykit, Poppykit, and Molekit. Senior Warrior of ThunderClan. Mentor to Whitepaw.

Where He’s Going
Quite possibly, nowhere. Deputy and Elder are the only two positions he can take right now, but it doesn’t seem like he’ll be getting either any time soon. With Brambleclaw’s recent rise to the former spot and Graystripe’s slated return, Brackenfur’s been placed on the waiting list for this spot, even if Firestar did mention that he considered the golden tabby. As for Elder… if Cinderpelt was considered young at her death, so is he.

In Power of Three, our warrior does have a chance at another apprentice… if Whitepaw is finished training by then. One of Squirrelflight’s kits is most likely, since warriors don’t normally mentor their kin and Whitepaw would have become a warrior too recently for him to receive one of Daisy’s kits.

Why He’s the Featured Warrior
Well, why he isn’t might have a shorter answer; this tom is clever, loyal, and, from what we can tell, a good mentor, mate, and warrior, and yet somehow escaping a Mary Sueish fate. Though undermentioned, Brackenfur remains a popular character and a model of what a true warrior should be.
