Northwest of WindClan's hunting grounds, Barley the loner is a mouser for the inhabitants of Windover Farm, known simply as Barley's farm , or the Twoleg Farm to the clanners. The fields of the farm are lush and segregated from the moor by neat hedges and twoleg fences. The twoleg building nearby houses two farm guard dogs who are often tied up in the day and let free at night. Though they are never seen, cows and sheep are also living on the farm.

Beyond that, is the rat ditch and another twoleg building, a barn built of rough stone. The barn is soft, welcoming, and always full of plump mice, even in the harsh time of leaf-bare. Daylight seeps through a hole in the roof, and the dirt floor is often covered in scraps of straw. Barley says that the twolegs regularly bring fresh hay to the barn, but never stay often, making it a fine nest for the two cats who live there.
