INTO THE WILD
A review written by Blizzardclaw, 2005
Rusty is a house-cat. He spends his kitten days sunnning and curling up on the end of his owner?s bed. But their is something different about Rusty, the forest beckons to him. Outside, in his back yard the stares into the woodlands beyond. The scene mimics that of his dreams, which are about to become a reality.
He soon sets foot in the forest, only to be attacked by Graypaw, another kitten. He does not share the scent of a house-cat though, and it will soon become apparent why- he is not a house cat, but a feral feline, living in the forest. Graypaw is not alone though, four Clans of wild cats share the lands beyond Rusty?s home. It?s not long before Rusty discovers this, and he meets Bluestar, one of the four leaders of the forest. For a mysterious reason, Bleustar invites him to join ThunderClan. He accepts, and is thrust into a world of new smells, sights and faces.

Not everything about his new life is great though. He must constantly strive to prove that just because he is not Clan born does not mean he can not be a Clan cat. He faces dangerous battle, tough training, hungry nights, and another threat, something darker and more sinister then he can imagine. With the new name of Firepaw, he will have to make choices, and learn who to trust, and who is an enemy as he learns to become a WARRIOR.

I think I would recommend this book for ages 11-14. It seems to be more popular with girls, but I think both girls and boys can enjoy it. It appeals to anyone who likes cats, and who appeiactes a good, twisting plot and rich ficional settings.
