We meet Firestar in a cave, far from his home. An old cat we can not recognize begins by greeting him, then questioning how he feels about his leadership. The warrior asks him how far his leadership would go--it may be tested, for grave times are ahead. The cat then speaks a prophecy, "Three will come, kin of your kin, who hold the power of the stars in their paws." The cat fades, and in traditional Warriors fashion Firestar is left asking him for more information about his ominous words. Firestar wakes up in his own den, and his thoughts reveal that this is a repeated dream--he had received these words from the old cat before the Great Journey, and they had followed him and him alone to the lake. His last ominous thoughts before the chapter concludes are these: The three have come...
