Just as Ravenpaw is about to explain his words, Tigerclaw looms behind the two, asking if Ravenpaw is telling Firepaw of how he defended Redtail. Firepaw covers for the frightened apprentice. Bluestar invites Yellowfang to join ThunderClan after her bravery and she accepts the offer. Tigerclaw also hints that he believes someone must have betrayed ThunderClan's weakness while the Highstones patrol was out of camp. He appoints Longtail and Darkstripe as Bluestar's new guards. After visiting Yellowfang, Firepaw goes to find some wild garlic, but stumbles upon Darkstripe, Longtail and Tigerclaw instead. Eavesdropping, he realizes that the three cats are plotting to kill Ravenpaw (or at least, to get rid of him).
