Firepaw returns to Tigerclaw with his catch, and Graypaw comes soon after. Ravenpaw is late. Graypaw and Firepaw fear that he has been bitten by an adder, but the thought does not seem to trouble Tigerclaw. Fortunately, Ravenpaw returns - he's caught an adder, though Tigerclaw is unimpressed. They return to camp, and Bluestar wants to see Firepaw about his meeting with Smudge. Firepaw defends her decision to invite him into the Clan. She understands and tells him that thanks to their successful assessment, all three cats will be attending the gathering. Graypaw, Ravenpaw and Firepaw are all excited to go, and gloat with eachother that Dustpaw and Sandpaw will not be going.
