The snow is getting heavier and if they don't find the kits they could freeze to death. Search parties are sent out, but luckily Sandstorm and Fireheart have little ways to travel before they find Cloudkit; the three kits have caught a vole. They bring them back to camp, were Bluestar has stern words for the three of them about breaking the warrior code. Cloudkit seems deaf to them though -- defiant, he defends their motives and their success against the angry she-cat. She sends them away to be dealt with by their mother, but she speaks with Fireheart after about his sisters son. She is worried that his skills will mean nothing if he does not accept the warrior code, and Fireheart agrees, an ominous fear in his heart -- what if the kit is not suited to Clan life after all? Meanwhile, Graystripe has been missing again (visiting Silverstream) when Fireheart needed him most, and a visit from Spottedleaf in a dream warns him to beware a warrior that he cannot trust.
