The patrol turns around, and Fireheart heads for the warrior's den hoping once more that Graystripe has gotten over their argument. He has not. As Fireheart calls for him Graystripe lunges and attacks, and Fireheart has no choice but to retaliate. Graystripe is angry because he believes that Fireheart thinks him disloyal to the clan. As the fight breaks into the clearing Bluestar ends it and speaks with them both, but Fireheart won't betray his friends secret.

Later on he visits Cinderpaw but finds her asleep. So he is assigned to a hunting patrol with Mousefur and Sandpaw. He hunts alone, and finds himself at twoleg place to visit Princess. There she has a surprise for him -- her firstborn, whom she offers to him to be raised in ThunderClan.
