Fireheart fills his time with lonely hunts, his friendship with Graystripe is still not mended and the gray warrior is ignoring him. Whitestorm assigns him to a patrol with Sandpaw, and Fireheart fears hostility from her. Instead he is pleasantly surprised by her friendliness and they discover that the river has frozen over -- a perfect opportunity to pay back RiverClan for stolen prey. Fireheart covers for Graystripe and joins the patrol, but when they return the river has thawed once again.
