characters mentioned

Yellowfang, Redtail, Ravenpaw, Princess

summary

Tigerclaw questions Graystripe's soaked fur but Cinderpaw quickly tells a story about the training stream. Tigerclaw reluctantly accepts it and sends Graystripe to get warmed up. Fireheart reprimands his apprentice for lying, but she insists that the truth probably wouldn't have been helpful. He can't argue with that.

Graystripe catches a cold and is confined to his den to recover (although Fireheart notices sometimes that he is mysteriously missing) and Fireheart must assess the two apprentices alone. The assessment goes well until a curious Cinderpaw sneaks up on Fireheart to ask him about his kittypet roots. Despite being surprised by her daring (he mentions that he would never have approached Tigerclaw during his own assessment) he replies that he has left his kittypet life behind. Secretly though, he's not as sure as he used to be. His constant visits with Princess have left him with happy memories.
