Hi everyone,
Happy New Year! And a huge triumphant meow of gratitude to
everyone who helped make
Sunset #2 on the
New York Times Bestseller List (children’s series section)!
Thank you so, so much. We’re outselling the boy wizard again! This
time Lemony Snicket’s final book in
A Series of Unfortunate
Events is keeping us off the top spot, so we’re in very good
company. It was the best Christmas present I could have wished for.
I won’t say too much about Sunset
here because you might still be reading it, but I hope you
enjoy the finale to the series which saw the Clans lose everything,
and find a new home far from the forest. I’m planning
Power of Three Book Three at
the moment, and already the Great Journey seems a long time ago.
Many of the characters weren’t even born when the Clans first
arrived at the lake. The Great Journey seems like a myth to them,
something the elders talk about – usually when a young cat complains
that life is too hard. No apprentice task could ever be as difficult
as leaving your home and embarking on a long, long journey to follow
a falling star.
StarClan did well to find a place where all four Clans could settle
in territories that suited their particular hunting skills. But you
know what life is like for the warriors – things never stay peaceful
for long! And even when everything seems to be going smoothly,
there’s always a prophecy just around the corner to set pelts
bristling.
You’ve given us a tremendous start to 2007 with the news about
Sunset. I hope your year has
begun well, too. Did you make any New Year’s Resolutions? I’ve made
myself a promise to spend as much time thinking about people,
especially my family and friends, as I do about cats.
Well, almost as much time…
J
Very best wishes,
Erin
