AuthorTracker :: Erin Hunter

Hi everyone,

I promised myself I’d avoid clichés like oh my goodness, I can’t believe it’s the end of 2006 already – but oh my goodness it is the end of 2006 already! I’m so proud of what Warriors has achieved this year: every new title has made the top three on the New York Times Bestseller List; Into the Wild featured in several school-based programs to encourage reading; there are more Warriors fan sites on the internet than any other children’s series (and that’s official!); and when the same old movies appear on TV during the holidays, why not go online and enjoy the host of fabulous Warriors tributes on YouTube?

Of course, the most important day of the holidays this year won’t be December 25th but December 26th, which is when The New Prophecy #6: Sunset will appear in the stores. I’ve had a lot of mail from fans asking why it couldn’t be released before Christmas, because obviously it would make an ideal gift (to yourself, too!). But this way you can think of it as an extra holiday treat, after all your other gifts have been opened. There’s always a bit of a lull after the excitement of Christmas Day, but now you have the very important task of finding out what happens at the end of a series that has seen the Clans lose not just their homes but for some, their closest friends and even their beliefs. Just try not to use it as an excuse to avoid playing board games with distant family members or writing thank you notes!

Creating and writing the stories is only part of our success; the rest is down to you, the readers and fans who keep Firestar at the top of the US tree! Please consider this my Christmas card to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you (Kate’s cat Miu-Miu, Cherith’s cats Brambleclaw and Sorreltail, and Vicky’s dog Missy say hi too!).

Happy holidays!

Very best wishes
Erin
